One of the finest actors of the country Ajay Devgn is one of the most popular stars in the Indian film Industry, he has won numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. The superstar reportedly charged Rs 25 crore for his role as Chitragupt aka CG in the fantasy drama. Ajay Devgn owns a production house as well. His debut as an actor in Phool Aur Kaante (1991), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Ajay Devgn then played a kickboxer in the martial arts film Jigar (1992) and a blind character in the film Vijaypath (1994). Further success came with roles in the 1994 box-office hits Suhaag and Dilwale, these two movies gave him the status of a serious and devoted actor. He earned his first name and fame by getting nomination in the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for his performance in the action drama Naajayaz (1995). Devgn received critical acclaim for his roles in Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and the political drama Zakhm (both 1998), winning National Film Award for Best Actor. In 1999, he starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, earning a Filmfare Best Actor nomination. In 2000, Devgn established Ajay Devgn FFilms and produced and appeared in the commercially unsuccessful Raju Chacha. He got a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination for essaying a dacoit in Lajja (2001).
However, Ajay Devgn is considered as one of the best actors of the country and is tagged with the title Superstar. He is the son of the famous fight composer Veeru Devgan.
