Aamir Khan paid his tributes to late legendary Jain saint and scientist Prof. Dr. Mahendra Kumar ji on April 9 in Bombay. Producer Mahaveer Jain accompanied the actor at the prayer meeting. Mahendra Kumar ji passed away on April 6.
It may be mentioned here that Aamir has been an admirer and follower of some Jain philosophies and principles like Anekantavada (respecting different perspectives), non-violence and aprigraha (non-possessiveness). The star had met Mahendra Kumar ji a few months back and had had a meaningful conversation with him about Jain philosophy, spirituality and science. At that time too, he was accompanied by Mahaveer Jain and senior IRS officer Ashok Kothari. They all agreed that harmony was what was needed urgently to unite science and spirituality.
Muni Mahendra Kumar ji
was often referred to as a human computer. He had demonstrated Avadhana Vidya — the ancient science of power and oral mathematical calculations — at several universities and international conferences. His book, The Enigma Of Universe, had been launched by erstwhile President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
