My mother was a Muslim and father a Hindu: Mahesh Bhatt

Puja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt’s father and renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt often make headlines for being straight forward and honest to his words. He has made films about his personal life by being unbiased. In many of his films Puja Bhatt played the lead character and almost all his films were superhits. Mahesh Bhatt
married twice. However Mahesh Bhatt has always remained in news for good and bad reason as well. The Filmmaker once shared bitter experiences of his childhood to Ali Peter John, a journalist.

Ali asked Mahesh Bhatt “What kind of a father he is in real life ?”
Mahesh Bhatt said, ” I did not know the meaning and responsibilities of a father. In my childhood, as I have never spent time with my father.”
Mahesh Bhatt further said,” When I was a kid I was harassed by being asked alot of things about my father that I remember and that I don’t want to discuss as the discussion will go towards somewhere else.”

Mahesh Bhatt was born to a Muslim mother, Shirin Mohammad Ali and a Hindu father, Nanabhai Bhatt. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt revealed, ” My mother was Muslim, and had to disguise herself as a Hindu. I am very much inspired by my mother, a lady of golden heart. She was a very disciplined and a very well brought up woman, she was a great lady.”

Mahesh Bhatt’s mother was a Shia Muslim and after the partition, lived in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, which was a Hindu-dominated area.
Mahesh Bhatt said , ” My mother used to hide her religion as we lived in a Hindu dominated area,”
Mahesh Bhatt is considered as one of the most successful filmmakers of Bollywood with lot’s of Superhits and huge earner at the box-office windows.
