PATHAAN’ CERTIFICATION: CBFC HAS ITS SAY | 29 December, 2022

So has the colour of Deepika Padukone’s swimming costume in the Besharam rang song of Pathaan been changed by the Central Board of Film Certification? Well, one will have to wait for the film to release or, at least, be certified by the CBFC to know the answer. But here are some points made by CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi regarding the process of certification in general and the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika starrer in particular. It may be mentioned here that the film recently reached the CBFC examining committee for certification. In other words, the process of certification is in progress.
Prasoon Joshi says:
“CBFC’s balanced approach in the certification of Pathaan would be clear to all once the film releases.
The CBFC always has a tough task to strike the right balance between audience sensibilities and creative expressions, and we have stayed true to this spirit in the certification of Pathaan too.
“Certification as per the right category is important, and the committee made sure that due care is taken in terms of the film’s age appropriateness for the relevant category.
The makers have been advised modifications in the film with a balanced and holistic view as per the CBFC guidelines.
“As far as costume colours are concerned, the examining committee has stayed unbiased. When the film comes out, the reflection of this balanced approach will be clear to everyone. We need to understand that the CBFC works under guidelines as per the Cinematograph Act. And it endeavours to do its best in certifying films for the appropriate category. Also, there is always a provision for the makers to voluntarily make changes to their film and further submit an agreed-upon version. Whilst the process has been duly followed and is getting implemented, I must reiterate that our culture and faith are glorious, intricate and nuanced. And we have to be careful that they do not get defined by trivia or don’t get dragged into unwarranted controversy.
“And, like I have said earlier too, the trust between creators and the audience is the most important to protect, and the creators should keep working towards it so that there is little room for mistrust or misunderstanding.”
So now, what certificate will Pathaan get? ‘U’, ‘A’ or ‘UA’? And which scenes will be altered? Which will be deleted? Or will any scene be altered or deleted at all? Keep guessing!

Soup ott series of Netflix will stream in January 2023

EX-BOYFRIEND HELD FOR ABETTING TUNISHA’S SUICIDE

The Valiv police in Vasai (Palghar district) on December 25 arrested actor Sheezan Khan in connection with the suicide of his ex-girlfriend, actress Tunisha Sharma. He was booked under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for abetment to suicide. He was produced before a local court soon after his arrest. The court remanded him to three days’ police custody.
Tunisha ended her life on December 24 on the set of TV serial Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul. The police have filed an abetment to suicide case against Khan. According to them, the recent split between the two may have led Tunisha to take the extreme step.

The police have sought the call details reports of the phones of both the actors to examine the WhatsApp messages exchanged between the two. Investigations are on.

TV ACTRESS TUNISHA SHARMA COMMITS SUICIDE ON SET

Television actress Tunisha Sharma ended her life today (24th December) by hanging herself on the set of TV serial Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. She was 20 years old.
Zeeshan Mohammed Khan, her co-star in the serial, has been booked on the basis of a complaint by Tunisha’s mother. He has been charged with abetting the suicide.
Tunisha had gone to the washroom during the shooting at Vasai in Palghar district of Maharashtra. She did not return for a fairly long time because of which the unit members broke open the door. They were shocked to find her hanging in the toilet.
Tunisha Sharma had started acting while she was a child. Her first TV serial was Maharana Pratap on Sony TV, in which she played the character of Chand Kanwar. Besides television serials, she had also acted in films. As a child star, she had played the childhood roles of Katrina Kaif’s characters in some films.

JACQUELINE WITHDRAWS PLEA TO TRAVEL ABROAD

Jacqueline Fernandez on December 22 withdrew her plea seeking permission to travel to Bahrain to meet her parents from December 22, 2022 to January 5, 2023. The actress’ mother had suffered a stroke a year ago and, according to her advocate, was “very ill”.
The plea was withdrawn after the court raised objections and said that the Rs. 200-crore extortion and money-laundering case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar and in which she is a co-accused, was at a “crucial stage”.

In an interview, filmmaker Anees Bazmee recalls #ferozekhan , the legendary style icon. Anees Bazmee unvieled – ” I am a die-hard fan of #ferozkhan sahab and it was my dream to work with the great Director, Producer, actor Feroz Khan, but honestly I wasn’t courageous enough to offer him a routined Bollywood kind of a film…and I was in search of a script and a tailored character for him. When the script of Welcome was ready I thought to cast him as RDX in the multi-starrer movie, I boosted my courage and tried my luck but Feroz Khan sahab straight away declined my offer, I tried again and again but from him was a big NO, not one or two, but over a dozen times, but I was determined to somehow convince him, I even tried to convince him through Fardeen Khan as we did No Entry together but Fardeen Khan said although he shall remind him about the offer but he can’t try to convince as his father is what that we all know.”
Anees Bazmee continued- “But I was not ready to loose him in the movie, I tried my level best to convince Feroz Khan. I thought if there is anyone who could play the big boss to Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, it was Feroz Khan saheb. However, he didn’t want to do the film. I reckon he was not in great health then. One fine day he responded my phone call positively, and he called me at Lotia Palace (Khan’s Bunglow, beside Juhu Beach) In our meeting he said that he liked Fardeen’s work in No Entry, but again he didn’t agree to do the film. I was adamant that he do the film. I went to his house not less than 15 times, and every time he politely refused.”
Anees Bazmee furthur said, ” I still had faith that Khan sahab would ultimately accept the project and finally he did.”

Anees Bazmee said, ” Feroz Khan Sahab was not in good health at that time and even refused to fly for the Dubai Schedule, however at the eleventh hour he agreed to participate in that shoot and the final output was very good. Audiences, critics, Feroz khan Lovers and all of us liked, loved and appreciated him as RDX.”

Feroz Khan lost the battle against the deadly Cancer and he said Goodbye for his final destination.
When the sequel of the movie Welcome was planned Veteran actor Nana Patekar said, ” There is no one who can replace the late legendary Feroz Khan, the greatest style icon.”

STATE TO FORM S.I.T. TO PROBE DISHA SALIAN’S DEATH | 23 December, 2022

The state of Maharashtra on December 22 announced that it would form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the death of Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, Disha Salian. Disha died on June 8, 2020 after a fall from the 14th floor of a building at Malad in Bombay. A week later, Sushant was found dead at his home.
In reply to a demand from MLAs of the ruling BJP-Shinde Sena combine that Salian’s death be probed, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis called upon those with clinching evidence to hand it over to the police.

CR EARNS RS. 2.32 CRORE RENT IN 2022 | 23 December, 2022

The Central Railway has earned over Rs. 2.32 crore in 2022 by letting out its various premises and rail coaches for shootings. This is the highest the CR has earned in any calendar year so far. The amount is double of what CR earned in 2021.
A total of eight feature films, three web series, a documentary film, a short film and an advertisement film were shot in all during the year that’s coming to an end. Of the Rs. 2.32 crore, more than 55% (Rs. 1.27 crore) came from feature films shot with the ‘Shooting Special Train’ at Yeola and Kanhegaon stations in Solapur district over a period of more than 18 days.

Avatar 2 is doing good at the box-office, Now the question arise, “Amid the fever of Avatar 2 weather queues for the advance booking of Cirkus will remain short ?” Advance booking of the movie Cirkus has started and so far, it has earned 51 lakhs only, for day 1 queues were small and not big. This is really low considering the fact that Rohit Shetty is a big name and a box office hit machine. The 1 crore mark is yet to be hit and it’s an alarming sign as only 3 days are remaining for the film’s release.
The short queues in front of the box-office windows are not giving positive vibes, let’s keep our fingers crossed and be positive for the huge success of Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, as Ranveer Singh , Jacqueline Fernandez , #RohitShetty , #PoojaHegde and the whole team has done hard work and they deserve Success.

Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and many other Bollywood stars attended the opening ceremony of the Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday.
The 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) kicked off in the City of Joy on Thursday. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose indoor stadium. The festival was inaugurated by actors Shah Rukh Khan, who was the guest of honour, and Amitabh Bachchan. Others who attended the ceremony included Mahesh Bhatt, Rani Mukerji, Kumar Sanu, Jaya Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Arijit Singh and Sourav Ganguly. The ceremony began with a performance on the ‘Ganesh Mantra’ which was followed by a beautiful dance performance on several songs.

This edition of the film festival will begin with the screening of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1973 film Abhimaan, featuring Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles. The movie will be screened at 5:30 pm after the inaugural ceremony. Besides Abhimaan, other Big B movies like Kaala Patthar, Deewaar will also be screened during the festival to celebrate the work and life of the megastar better known as Superstar of the Millennium.
A total of 183 films from 42 countries will be screened throughout the festival. Around 215 shows will be screened across 10 venues during the festival.

If someone does good work, a sense of jealousy occurs in our actor’s community and at the same time, the urge to compete inspires.” He further said, “ Yes, I said ‘Jealousy’. It happens, when an actor delivers such good work. It is not jealousy with the ingredients of negativity but it makes you stand on your toes that even I have to work hard.” Kantara actor Rishab Shetty, also praised Nawazuddin, he said, “I have watched so many of Nawaz bhai’s movies and watched his journey filled with hard work and effort. He is like us, we are middle-class people with no background but we want to come into the industry and make it big. He is a very big inspiration for me and all of us. He has come from theatre and done so many small roles. Even I have done such small roles in Kannada cinema before I got my big break. He is our senior and a brilliant actor, we have the same journey. I am his fan as he has given so many amazing performances.”

An apparel line is also expected to launch in March, 2023 on their web store. The brand will broaden their reach with more luxury lifestyle products.

Criminal complaints lodged against Shark Tank fame Ashneer Grover and family

Fintech unicorn BharatPe has accused its ousted managing director Shark Tank fame Ashneer Grover, and his family of embezzling company funds to pay for personal expenses, including rent, plane tickets, and skincare products, as well as funnelling money to fake vendors and recruitment services.

In a civil lawsuit filed in the Delhi high court on Thursday, BharatPe has sought ₹88.67 crore in damages from Grover, his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, and family members. It said Grover and his family created fictitious vendors in Panipat to provide services to BharatPe, raised fake invoices and overcharged the firm for recruitment.

The payments firm also filed a criminal complaint against Grover and his family, including Deepak Gupta, Suresh Jain and Shwetank Jain, with the Delhi Police. BharatPe is seeking damages from Grover and family, including a claim for payment made against the invoices of non-existent vendors, amounting to ₹71.7 crore; payments made to vendors purportedly providing recruitment services totalling ₹7.6 crore; ₹5 crore in damages for loss of reputation to the company caused by tweets and other statements made by Grover and his family members.

BharatPe claimed Grover has been running a “vicious campaign” against the company on social media.“The civil complaint is for recovery of losses BharatPe has faced because of the acts of Ashneer, his wife and his family. This is one team—headed by Madhuri Jain Grover, advised and guided by Grover, and then others—BharatPe is going against,” a person close to the matter said, seeking anonymity.

Grover and Madhuri Jain Grover’s counsel said his client was not served a notice and that “they only came to know about this through print media today”.
The Delhi high court asked Grover and his family to respond to the company’s charges within two weeks. The next hearing will be in the first week of January. Law firm Trilegal is representing BharatPe in the civil suit filed in the high court.

BharatPe has filed a criminal complaint against Grover and his family with the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police, alleging criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, cheating, forgery and destruction of evidence.
